TISA 10 Day workshop day1

The Indian stammering association's (TISA) 10 day workshop on communication for people who stammer started today at SMTA's (Society for Motivational Training and Action ) campus in Vikas Nagar, near Dehradun, facilitated by Dr. Sachin. On first day there were 7 participants. We started the workshop by lighting up of candles by the head of SMTA, Mr. Ruben and his wife Mrs. Maggi. Next was a round of introductions and setting our expectations from the workshop. Sachin introduced us to bouncing technique which all of us tried using throughout the day. Each one of us also wrote a Bio sketch of our own describing our life till date. Soon we were joined by Ashwini, a young activist from the area. Being a non stammerer he wanted to learn about this neurological condition - stammering. Some people also shared a few experiences from their lives and discussed how stammering has affected their lives. After an energizer, each one of us told Ashwini one thing each, what a listener should take care of while talking to a person who stammers. After the lunch break, we watched the Canadian documentary -Unspeakable (review). We paused in between to discuss a lots of interesting things references from each one of ours real life.We concluded the day with a smile on our face :)
