Looking Back at NC 2014

It has been one of the wonderful experience for me to think, plan and manage this large event on behalf of TISA. It started somewhere in March where I was just thinking what will be about the next NC. Discussed with some people from TISA and then Pune SHG, where I got a enthusiastic response from all Pune SHG . Then I talked to Dr Sachin, where he gave a go ahead to plan the NC at Pune. Since then we at Pune had met every week, visited lot of places to see the venue. Finally we zeroed on Zara Resort, which turns out to be awesome place for us. A good place, good food, and many conference rooms they provided, and also the open space.

NC is a good place to meet lot of people across the India and abroad. We noticed we all wanted to speak on mic and learn the techniques. But when we think a National Conference is that correct? Probably need to ponder much more than what I write here! So considering the efforts we spent on organizing at NC (I am a delivery manager in IT), so managing this additional responsibility was a not easy task as I have to give equal attention to TISA and my work as well. You might have heard what my wife said as I use to go every weekend for the NC work. At the same time whatever effort we put if we are able to change life of one person then TISA is successful. I feel we did change life of more than one !!!

Thinking in future, we may plan to have NC on hold for next couple of years. At the same time we will focus on having more communication workshops in each part of India to build a good base of PWS across India. That way we will have 15-20 people join for the workshop, learn the techniques, ample time to share and speak on mic, and have train rides or shopping mall activities to kill the fear with strangers.

So please watch the space in coming weeks we will publish the Communication Workshop schedule across India. Most likely next Comm WS will be at Goa in Jan/Feb. If we need before then we may plan in Chennai in 3rd week of December.

So Thank You all for your active participation in National Conference 2014. Good Luck on your Stammering Journey!!!

Warm Regards,
Virendra Shirse
Pune SHG

Yes, getting "mixed up" with tisa ensures all round development, not just communication. Above all, we relearn to relate to others, make friendships, serve others, appreciate others and self - we realise that we are part of the big human family...
Thanks for organising this beautiful experience. This will be no less beautiful, if we do it at a smaller scale as cw or get-togethers. Congrats to Pune shg and everyone..

NCs can be held alongside multiple CW. There is no reason to opt one over the other.

Yes Tanveer we could have NCs, but let us create a good base of PWS across India who have become role models in recovering from stammering so that the next NC could be of 500 people. I would request you to take a lead in Bangalore and organize a Comm Workshop, for which we will have one TISA Facilitator can join and guide.

Thank you so much Virendra Sir for the invitation. I would love to do everything I can.

Yes having a larger base of "users" will ensure that when NC is announced, hundreds of people register on their own, well in ADVANCE.. this is not happening yet. I am sure if these hundred participants, who came this time, go back and conduct even half a day awareness session in their offices, schools, colleges, write and talk about it - then, next NC, whenever it happens, will be a lot more popular and fun to organise..
